BELLINGHAM, Washington ? ?A Washington state man may have taken health concerns too far when he pulled a gun on a pregnant woman who was smoking on a street in Bellingham.
Police arrested 24-year-old Justin Dain Palmer Wednesday on first-degree assault charges following the incident, according to the Bellingham Herald.
Palmer reportedly stopped his blue Dodge pickup and rolled down the passenger window near a 28-year-old woman, who later told Bellingham police she is roughly eight months pregnant.
According to police, she was walking down the street smoking a cigarette when Palmer shouted something to the effect of: "Who the heck smokes when they're pregnant?"
When the woman answered, "I do," the two exchanged words and then ? according to police ? Palmer pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her.
Palmer remained in the truck, about ten feet from the unidentified woman. When he drove away, she called 911.
A few minutes later, police pulled over a blue Dodge pickup at a nearby intersection. Palmer admitted to police that he confronted the woman but denied pointing a gun at her. After Palmer consented to a search of his truck, police found two Glock semiautomatic .45-caliber handguns in the center console.?
Palmer has a prior record of disorderly conduct and traffic violations.
